Course: “A Coaching Approach to Supporting Learning and Professional Development in the Clinic”

Objectives: Upon completion of this session, attendees will be able to:

  1. Consider how coaching supports the development of adaptive expertise in clinical reasoning for student physical therapists.
  2. Identify opportunities for coaching to bolster the support of students and clinicians in the clinical environment
  3. Discuss foundational skills for effectively coaching students and clinicians.
  4. Practice building an alliance to establish effective communication and feedback strategies.
  5. Apply foundational coaching concepts to support clinical reasoning and professional development.
  6. Support students in navigating personal, academic, and professional challenges in a way that empowers them.
